Who we are
FrigateProtect is made by Ashton Miller ("we"). Contact: [email protected].
What stays on your phone and your server
- Your Frigate server address, username and password are stored in the iPhone Keychain and only sent to your server.
- Live video, recordings, snapshots and detections are loaded directly from your Frigate server. They are never sent to us.
- Settings (layouts, alert preferences, fisheye adjustments) are stored on your phone.
- Photos: the app only asks to add pictures when you save a snapshot. It cannot read your photo library.
- Local network: the app asks for local network access so it can reach a Frigate server on your home network.
Notifications
On iPhone, every push notification is delivered by Apple's Push Notification service. To send you camera alerts, the app registers its Apple push token and a random installation ID (not linked to your name, email or Apple ID) with the notification relay. The relay can be one you run yourself next to Frigate, or our hosted connection service (connect.ashcoHQ.com, run on Cloudflare). Alert text such as "Person detected · Front Door · 9:41 PM" passes through Apple to your phone. Pictures are fetched by your phone from your own server; your camera video and pictures stay end-to-end encrypted between your phone and your NVR, so our service cannot see them.
If you turn notifications off or delete the app, the token stops working. Ask us at any time to delete a registration.
What we don't do
No accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no data brokers. We never sell or share your information.
Beta testing
If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple shares crash reports and any feedback you send with us, under Apple's privacy policy. We only use it to fix the app.
This website
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and has no analytics.
Children
The app isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone.
Keeping and deleting information
Push registrations are kept only while they are in use and deleted when they stop working or when you ask. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or US states such as California) you can ask to access, correct or delete information about you. We hold almost none, but we'll help with any request.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
